Denyse Schmidt Chicopee

In addition to (and in contrast to) the fish fabric that arrived yesterday, long awaited new fabric from Denyse Schmidt arrived!  Known for her great color palettes that mix a vintage and modern vibe along with original patterns, Denyse Schmidt did not disappoint with her latest collection.  Whether you use the whole collection (or color way) or just enjoy the fabrics individually,  Chicopee is going to be a season favorite!
I am envisioning a quilt with a solid background....

Fish Fabric has Swam Back in!

Did you have the opportunity to see the newest fabrics from Brandon Mably for the Kaffe Fassett Collective?  Fish!  Big, bold, fabulous fish!  They went quickly and we have been waiting (semi) patiently for them to come back into stock.  We have them in several colors - get them while you can!

Frame this fabric as a focus panel with borders and you have a simple and impactive quilt!

[Always] Special Delivery of Fabric

Thank goodness we had a terrific Holiday in July event - we made room for lot of new fabric that arrived this week.  Moda sent some beautiful batik charm packs and jelly rolls, along with the new Coquette Collection from Chez Moi.  It's a great collection of large florals, medium prints, and plenty of blenders.

We also filled in our ever-popular Kaffe Fassett section with re-orders of our popular florals and shells and NEW polka dots and Aboriginal dots.

Coming later in the week...A REAL SALE SECTION!  October will be 2 years in business and 1 year in our current locations (and yes, we will have a celebration) and we have reached the point of being able to offer a decent value area.  It's important to have this selection, especially since we have so many customers who do charity quilts and pillow cases (not to mention the cost of cottons have not been kind to our wallets in the past few years.)  Stop in and say Hi and see what's new here and all over the shop.

From the Marcus Fabric Website (where we have ordered some really really amazing fabric for the coming year):

Our Top Ten Reasons for Making a Bed Runner NOW!

The bed runner is a luxurious decorator touch that was first seen in higher-end boutique hotels, quickly becoming a familiar and welcome bedroom accent. As quilters, we can easily create several new looks to give new life to one single, solid color bedspread or duvet.
10. You can pretend your bedroom is a five-star hotel room!
9a. It's a great way to test quilt blocks or techniques before you
commit to making a full size quilt.
9. You can finally convert the blocks from one of your UFO's
into a finished project.
8. It's summer -- who has time to sew a king-sized quilt!!??
7. Now you can lounge on the bed with you shoes on.
6. You'll still get credit for making a quilt.
5. Depending on its size, the same bed runner can easily be used as a wall hanging (horizontally or vertically) or a large table runner, mantle drape, window valance, sofa throw...
4. You can create a second coordinating bed runner to be finished as a headboard.
3. Just imagine how many bed runner gifts you can knock out before the holidays!
2. Drape it over a bedroom chair at night, to enjoy your own creativity first thing in the morning.
1. Your dog / cat will love it!

Now that you're inspired, here are a few creative suggestions:
  • Visualize a section from a favorite quilt design, and simply editing down the width to a bed runner size (approx 15 to 14" wide.) Lengthen the runner with additional piecing or single-fabric borders along the short ends.
  • Bed runners are the perfect project to show off large designs in big, easy blocks.
  • Add flat pockets to the sides to hold a magazine for bedtime reading.

Holiday Warmth of Quilts with No Snow

Of course there is not snow, it's Florida!  I do think, however that the weather at StitchCraft's Holidays in July event this past Saturday had cooler weather than much of the rest of the USA! (I don't think the weather went much above 88!)  Inside, it was sunshine and warmth, as the smiles and creativeness of our wonderful customers filled the shop all day long!  We had a great day of cookies and holiday music, and lots of shopping!  Best of all, we collected A LOT of food for Boca Helping Hands food pantry!
We had many wonderful show-and-tells, including Karen D., who finished her Christmas Tree bargello (Miki's class) and came searching for a pretty backing.
We capped of the wonderful day with a raffle of an AccuQuilt Go!Baby bundle.  Congratulations to Joy T. who was the lucky winner! (she came in on Monday to pick it up and is excited for her new quilting 'toy'!).
A special thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the Holidays in July, support your local quilt shop (who appreciates you VERY much) and help out Boca Helping Hands, who is truly in need of food at this time of year.   Cheers to you all each and every day!!
