Deadlines and Daisies

Today is the last day to register for the Ten Buck BOM (Second Saturday) which begins March 10.  There will be no exceptions because we have a LOT of preparation and kits to cut.

There are a few spaces left to participate in the Fiesta de la Talevera block of the month - led by the uber talented Dotty.  This is an appliqué BOM - but you can use any technique you prefer (or learn Dotty's method with her each month)

If blocks of the month aren't your thing, how about a kit?  Me and My Sisters design a new fabric line and kit for Moda each Spring.  You receive all of the fabric necessary to finish on of three tops plus binding.  I finished the shop sample top this weekend - it is the perfect quilt for any girl of any age!

Don't forget to add March 9th and 10th to your calendar for our Baby Lock event.  National educator Susan Zellers will be at StitchCraft showing all of the latest and greatest products and projects.
Details to come...

We Love Our Newest Quilters!

Claire came into StitchCraft looking to get started in a new hobby.   A talented lady who had done some serious sewing and other hand crafts had a gift in mind when she decided to make her first quilt.
Check out her first quilt!  It is beautiful, isn't it?  Her seams are all even and the binding corners are mitered beautiful!  We are so proud - and I think someone will be a lucky recipient!  Claire has already started on her second quilt!  Welcome to our happy addiction!

Sugar Rush

I like candy (and cupcakes and ice cream).  I am also a healthy eater so I prefer sweets with high fiber and no calories - FABRIC!

Sugar Rush from RJR fabrics.  YUM! Above is a border print fabric with big border repeats.  Imagine what you can do with this (I'll be making a table runner shortly)
Cupcakes on frosting.
With sprinkles on top.
How delicious is this all-over frosting print?!

Magazines and Strings

Inquiring minds want to know....
Our local chain bookstore no longer carries some of our favorite quilt magazines (such as Quilters Newsletter).  Would you prefer to subscribe directly to the magazine (which we all know has a savings) or purchase it at your local quilt shop?  Please leave us a comment here or on Facebook - thank for your input.

And to show you what I am doing with my scraps...
A string quilt (which my husband wants me to make larger.)

Take time to create something today.

Salt Air

Moda and Cosmo Cricket have a new line - Salt Air.  The colors are a bit more subtle - maybe reminding you of vacationing down at "the shore" (wherever your shore may have been.)

Layer cakes and charm packs have arrived (ahead of bolts, which are scheduled to ship until March.)  If you were looking for some pretty precuts to make a quilt top, Salt Air is a nice choice.

Beauty and Whimsy

The new fabric keeps rolling in and it seems like everyday is our birthday as we get to open boxes to see what is new! (The additional fabric shelves can't be built fast enough!)
Royal Peacocks from Hoffman is one of several peacock-themed fabric shown at Quilt Market.  Quite different from the Plume line that arrived last month, no less elegant.   Mikki is eyeing this fabric for a four patch posy (which will be a repeated classes.)

Maybe it was the hip tshirts worn by the Hoffman staff - but I couldn't resist adding some Yo Gabba Gabba fabric to our shop.  Based on the popular children's television show (that has entertainers that grown ups like to watch, too.)    Know anyone that would like cute new pillow cases - this fabric would be great!

2012 Trend Watch - Panels!

I have been seeing a trend from the fabric companies this year.  Panels.  Everyone is offing them in their lines and they have them for every holiday and season.  We have always seen and loved panels - this year StitchCraft had panels that you could cut out and create a tree skirt and set of cosmetic/eyeglass bags.  Look for mini panels within panes to make bags, tags, little pillows and of course Christmas stockings.
The first panels to arrive this year are these super-cute children's panels from Wilmington Prints and South Seas Imports.  Need a quick and simple childs' quilt?  Look no further.

Above is Caterwalling.  Not kids necessarily, just cats!  And adorable ones at that.  Great coordinating fabrics are available for all of these panels.  There are free patterns for the children's panels available from the companies.  Visit our links page to get there.
